Barcombe Bowling Club and Short Mat Bowls
Bowls is a pleasurable and social game of skill and strategy enjoyed by gents and ladies of all abilities and ages, from the young to the young at heart. It exercises both mind and body and improves health and fitness.
Formed in 1951, we are a small, friendly club with an outdoor green sited by the Sports Pavilion on the Recreation Ground. Our season runs from April to September. Matches are played at least twice a week in the afternoon. Club competitions are held during the season.
Practice sessions (roll-ups) are usually on Monday evenings from 5.30 onwards, so do come along and give bowls a try.
We have Full Membership and Associate Membership (which allows members to come to social events and roll-ups and can play in matches if invited)
SHORT MAT BOWLS
Short Mat Bowls is played indoors. The season runs from September to March, and although the clubs are separate many players belong to both. Our Home matches are on alternate Thursday evenings in the Sports Hall at the Barcombe Primary School. The away matches are played in a variety of places in the Wealden area. There are some pre-season games and practice is also possible alongside our Home matches. We play a number of friendly games and have Club Competitions.
All are most welcome, so do come along and give it a try. All you need is a pair of flat sole shoes, we will supply everything else.
